Copywriting Portfolio

Sydney Kerbyson is a New Hampshire Wedding Photographer, all-around chameleon, outdoor lover, and lover of sustainable businesses.

Serving adventurous couples in NH and New England, she is the person you need in your corner on the most photographed day of your life. Sydney uses a laid-back approach to make her couples feel comfortable not only in front of the camera; but in her role as your photography Fairy Godmother.

The Details

As a hobbyist photographer, I have a soft spot for other photographers, so when Sydney reached out to me, I couldn't be more excited to work with her.

Deliverables included:

  • Brand Messaging Strategy

  • Brand Voice & Tone

  • Brand Positioning

  • Mission, Vision, and Philosophy

  • Website Copy

  • Blog posts

The Goal

Sydney came for SEO website copy because she didn’t want to rely so much on Instagram. Sydney would be slammed with inquiries for months, then would have periods of slow seasons.

Her goal is to have a steady flow of organic traffic generating, so prioritizing blogging was a plus. She also wanted to build her email list for her podcast and branch into mentorships.

Dream Client Profiles

Meet Sean and Morgan: The All-in Couple

Morgan and Sean are millennials living in the PNW. They are down to earth and have been together for several years. They got engaged during COVID and wants to celebrate their love in front of close family and friends.

Wants, Needs, Desires (yes, they’re all different)

Wants: A nostalgic photography style that embraces the outdoors

Needs: A photographer who they can be open with

Desires: Feeling accepted for who they are, but beautiful photos and a great customer experience are a plus

Points of Frustration:

Sean and Morgan searched through many photographers whose style that they liked. They didn’t feel a strong connection with anyone BUT Sydney. Their biggest concern was that their quirky, silly personality wouldn’t go over well.

Hesitations & Motivation:

They loved Sydney and her style, but want to keep their costs within their budget.

But Morgan couldn’t stop thinking about Sydney. She would go back and compare other photographer’s to her work. That is when they knew that she was a match made in photography heaven.

Solution:

Sydney often refers to herself as a “chameleon” who is able to adapt to what her couples need. If they are silly or more nervous, she meets them where they are at with the energy they need to feel comfortable .

Meet Cody and Bree: The relationship-driven couple

Wants, Needs, Desires:

Wants: To not feel uncomfortable in front of the camera

Needs: A photographer that will bring out their personality

Desires: To have photographs that are true to themselves and not cookie-cutter

Points of Frustration:

Cody and Bree couldn’t find a photographer that they felt comfortable with. They wanted someone who felt like a friend and would have their back. Sydney's friendly and down-to-earth personality is what they were craving.

Hesitations & Motivations:

Cody and Bree had no hesitations when meeting Sydney. Bree knew right away that Sydney was the photographer for them after she took the time to explain her process to them.

Solution:

Sydney shows genuine excitement that didn’t feel forceful. Her big thing is to get know her couples, together AND as individuals. Bree liked that, she was present and felt that their story is the only one that mattered.

The Highlights:

Sydney came to me because she liked the balance between poetic copy and SEO strategy. I aimed to do the same for her in a way that sounded like her, would appeal to her ideal clients, all while blending aspects of her message on legacy.

My favorite part of the project was the about page. This is where I got creative to paint a picture of who her couples are, what they need, and why it matters that they hire Sydney.

Sydney’s Feedback

There are so many voices in the wedding and creative world, that sometimes it can feel like my voice and the experience I provide gets blurred or tuned out… I've found more confidence in myself and, more importantly, this business in its journey.

[Through this process…]

You will know yourself MORE than you do now. The leap you are about to take will bring a different type of freedom in the work that you do, and take the weight off of your shoulders of "trying to figure it out all by yourself." Just do it ☺️.

The Final Product

Sydney walked away with the confidence to apply her message to the world while learning more about herself in the process. With a growing product suite and new SEO strategy in hand, Sydney will no doubt be the most requested photographer in New Hampshire.
